Halloween Advent Calender, Day 13

What with a midterm project sneaking up on me, I'm missing the deadline by a bit...XD Which leads to another cop out entry, but mayhaps another way to enjoy your upcoming Halloween season.

I'm talking about music, of course. What with everyone and their mom with an iPod of some generation (my beloved 1st gen recently went to meet its maker, literally cuz dad had to bring it back into work ^^;;), playlists are one way for me to really get into the spirit. Never mind that I've had my Halloween Mix on shuffled loop since the last 2 weeks of September.

Every Halloween mix needs 3 songs that if your don't have it somehwere in the mix, you should pelt yourself with tampons and head to your prayer closest. Whoops, that's "Carrie"....which you should all partake in before November thrusts its way into fall.
--Michael Jackson's Thriller: if you're not zombie shuffling to everyone's favorite pervert (no not Peewee Herman), then you're a depraved baby-eater whom relishes in crushing puppies. .....damn, that sounded better in my head.
--The Ghostbuster Theme: busting makes me feel good, dammit.
--And of course, Monster Mash: and its sibling song, Monster Hash, which is the equivalent to owning "Walking Round a Winter Wonderland", with "Walking Round in Women's Underwear" queued next.

On my mix, at a whopping 60+ tracks, I have those three and then some. Like Hotel California. Its not a Halloween song by any stretch of the imagination, but always sends a chil up my spine. Same goes with Carlos Santana's Put Your Lights On, though it has some scary qualities. I also suggest Bad Moon by CCR, Haunted by Evanescence, Soul Man by the Blues Brothers (right is right after Soul reaver's main theme), Finale by L'Arc en Ciel (a song about Sadako of Ringu fame), and They Might Be Giants' Courage the Cowardly Dog song they did when CN was awsome and had cartoon music vdeos. Of course, I have Tubular Bells (a classic horror theme), and Disney's Grim Grinning Ghosts (the track they play at the graveyard part of the Haunted Mansion). Also included is Gorillaz's Dracula, which has samples from a Bugs Bunny cartoon (wherein he meets a vampire, then hijinks ensue).

I also have many samples from Fatal Frame 1, which though it had some bad acting, had some great ambiant "music" during ghost encounters, which juxtiposition nicely with the music tracks (Jonny Hollow's Skeleton Song is wonderful to hear after starting at the Blinded Ghost encounter from FF). Also from video games:
-Bi-O's theme from Bust a Groove 2 (its has some delicious screaming and zombie moaning samples)
-Nupraptor's Theme from Blood Omen (also with some great screaming samples)
-Chou and Koe, themes from Fatal Frames 2 and 3 respectively
-Primal Eyes from Parasite Eve
And I can't forget Akira Yamaoka's work in Silent Hill of which I have some of the more memorable tracks like:
-Theme of Laura (full version and the trailer version, which sounds more accoustic)
-Remodling from Silent Hill 4
-Alessa's Harmony from the movie (which has Alessa saying "I'm burning", a reminder of what had happened during the movie)
-Usagi (Robbie the Rabbit's disturbing music video song), Caramel Mix #1, Ki-Ko-No, and Fukuro, all of which had some of the most disturbing and bizzare music videos ever made (seeing Robbie actually move is a sight to behold)

This is just a sampling of my iPod's Halloween Mix, and I hope you all have one too. After all, Christmas shouldn't be the only holiday that gtes its own custom sountrack (Halloween, fortunately) is quite devoid of boy band/teenybopper covers of good songs (though one day, I'd like to hear anyone cover Monster Mash just for the hell of it).

More Fun Than Your Obligatory Monkeys

What's on Dez's Desktop: Sae, the Repentence; Loki & Heimdall; Aro & Kage; those yummy Shinigami from YamiMatsu.

What's Spinning in Byakko: Hi-Ho, by Hide; real Emotion, by Noriko Matsueda, Takahito Eguchi; some Final Fantasy remixes, including Celes' Theme, Aerith's Theme, and Cid's Theme; Its the End of the World As We Know It, by REM; various anime openings, including Hikaru no Go, Matantei Loki Ragnarok, and Ranma 1/2; Fatl Frame sound bites (creepy o_o).

*snuffles* Bah, I hate allergies. They make me feel all "bleh". >< If any of you were trying to reach me and didn't, its cuz I felt bad all weekend, and I was at a friend's house Friday, jamming to Karaoke Revolution, which BTW, was recently purchased by my lil sisters this weekend as well. Fun game, if you don't mind watching your virtual audience hold thier ears in pain...XD Not that I was the one doing the inflicting of said terrible voice, but yeah. I want to say that REM's End of the World is friggin' harder than Dee Laytner trying to get into Ryo McClean's pants...XD Same goes for One Week by the divine Barenaked Ladies.

So yeah. That was my weekend.... And to a certain Monkey King...if you're reading the blog, leave a comment, willya? Makes me feel fuzzy when I get comments. Lookit Aise. ^^;; So yeah. Comment, damn you!

The greatest and best song in the world is Tribute. Feel the power, meat.

And to finish, Syndelin's Lyrical Checkpoint!

Syndelin: Hey kiddies! Let's check out some lyrics from Jimmy Eat World's "Sweetness", off their "Bleed American: album! Please forgive the unusual format, as all we worked off of was the track itself, sans booklet or otherwise. ^^;; Lyric Checkpoint!

Sweetness

Are you listening?
(whoa)
Sing it back
(and oh)
String from your tether unwinds
(string from your tether unwinds, oh oh)
Up and outward
To bind
(But only to bind, whoa oh)

I was spinning free
(whoa)
With a little sweet
And simple numbing me

Are you listening?
(whoa)
Sing it back
(oh)
Tell me what do I need
(tell me what do I need, whoa oh)
When words lose their meaning
(when words lose their meaning, whoa oh)

I was spinning free
(whoa)
With a little sweet
And simple numbing me
Stumble until you crawl
(whoa)
Sinking into sweet uncertainty

(Oh oh oh oh ooh)
(whoa)

(are you listening)
(are you listening)
If you're listening
(whoa)
(if you're listening, are you listening)
Sing it back
(whoa)
(if you're listening, are you listening)
I'm still running away
(i'm still running away, oh)
(whoa)
(oh)
(whoa)
I won't play your hide and seek game
(i won't play your hide and seek game, oh)

I was spinning free
(whoa)
With a little sweet
And simple numbing me (yeah!)
What a dizzy dance
(whoa)
This sweetness will not
Be concerned with me
No, the sweetness will not
Be concerned with me
No, the sweetness will not
Be concerned with me

Papercuts Hurt Like Hoy, But Band-Aids are Friggin' Annoying

Kozumi's Quote of the Week:
"Dude, that is *not* the type of protection a normal guy carries in his wallet."
--Said to Otakuya when he offered me a Band-Aid

What's on Dez's Desktop: Tsuzuki getting a bottle to his face; some ad for an English speaking program bearing phrases like "go berserk with wet panto"; Sakura-saku by NeoNeko.

Whee! The Chinese New Year fair in SF was pretty cool. I got some great pics (hopefully they'll come out ^^;;) and had a blast. Bought a Chii wallscroll from Inuki-pachuki, and my dad bough this pair of beautiful teardrop cut amethyst earrings for my birthday. *squee* For those who doubted my girliness, well, there it is. We also headed down to Kinokuniya, giving me a chance to torture the employees (as always, but inadvertently) with requests for manga that never seems to be there. Though I did see thsi lovely Devil May Cry artbook, nothing really caught my eye. Two-Mix's Gravity Zero album, but that's it. Anyone know if Two-Mix is still together? I worry since they haven't released anything in quite awhile, and this was a group that released a new album once every 4 months (not including singles). I sincerely hope the pair haven't broken up....they're so talented.

Family bonding weekend basically, for those who couldn't reach me. ^^ I love family time.

Aro: "Squee"?

*Bap!* -_-/)#~.^

Just want to reiterate: Garage Band owns my soul. For those who don't know, Garage Band enables you, essentially, to make your own music, based on pre-recorded riffs, or riffs you can create on a keyboard. Think of it like a more versataile MTV Music Generator for the PS. I'm almost done w/ my first piece, puzzlingly entitled 1st Impression Pure (since its actually a new version of my first 1st Impression ^.^;;), and I'm working on a new one tentively titled Tears. No, I'm not depressed, its just what the riffs reminded me of. *shrugs* What can I say, I have odd naming conventions.....look at Aro and Rya.

Aro: Are you implying something?
Rya: Hey, my name exists. Its been in 2 novels. Koontz novels, but novels nonetheless.

Though I am seriously trying to record me saying the phrase "I like boobs" for a track. XD XD XD Don't ask. So yeah, Garage Band. 0wnx0rs me. R0x0r!

Installing Garage Band....

What's on Dez's Desktop: Miku Hinasaki staring pensively at a spider's web; Loki & Heimdall w/ their respective baby tentacle monsters-in-training; Gundam Desthscythe.

Aro: Testing...testing, 1, 2, 3.... Can anybody hear me?
Kozumi: If we share the irony?
Loki: XD BNL, baby, BNL.
Rya: Welcome to Random Lunacy...we're writing it.
Syndelin: You're reading it.
Rya: Its a wonderful day in the RanLune Compound.
Kozumi: And a wondeful day for a....beauty.
Loki: Would you be mine?
Aro: Could you be mine?
Rya: .....That's very nice. So...this is RanLune....I'm Rya "Really" St. John. XD
Aro: I'm Aro "Tarot Daemon" of Swords.
Kozumi: I'm Kozumi "The Crux".
Syndelin: I'm Syndelin "Machead" Valentine, and I'd just like to comment on the Norse God Rant Story; Of course they're gonna misrepresent at least one aspect of it, its a freakin' anime and irrevelent. Thank you.
Loki: XD That's very nice. And I'm Bruce "Armageddon" Willis.
Syndelin: That is a LIE. I'm calling shinanagins on LOKI, the GOD OF MISCHIEF.
Loki: XD
Aro: Introduce yourself, Syn.
Syndelin: I *did*.
Aro: You did?
Kozumi: Yeah, then she launched into a rant.
Syndelin: Shinanagins!
Loki: I feel the love. XD

Big Happy Birthday to Sahana AKA Aise. Welcome to the world of Oldness. This is your host and hostess Duo "Shinigami" Maxwell and Hela, Goddes of Straw Death. Knock yourself out.

Installing Garage Band as we speak. It'll be cool to be able to make my own music tracks, and when Who gets his electrc guitar, we're gonna have him do us some fly loops.

DJ QT Pi (Hermod): ^^ Because the 1st rule you learn in techno music is that you don't have to play a lot--
Syndelin: You can loop it! ^^

That's right. And I'll even get some voice tracks up...maybe some lines from badly dubbed anime. Or my own friends. XD

Hermod: ^_^ Exactly! No one's gonna hear anyone's offensive remarks...until I mix them onto a techno track! "I like titties, I like ass".....XD
Loki: What scares me is that I know he will.
Hermod: I'm sure Sigyn will be pleased to hear some of your lastest gems, Loki-kun.
Loki: No, really, Signa...I'm not really a violent homophobe...and when I said I like boobs...I mean I like yours...er...um...*mumble mumble*
Heimdall: And the only thing she'll be faithful to is kicking your ass on a daily basis.
Aina: Don't worry, I have that taken care of. >=)

So look to my newest CD I hope to cut in the near future: "Guns and Boobs". XD XD

And remember kids, Dio IS your neighbor.

*Til next time Lunies!*
